St Raphael has several ministries and outreach programs that support our parish and community. Interested in getting involved? Contact a ministry/outreach coordinator below or call the parish office for more information.

    Ministries

  • Altar and Rosary Sodality
    Open to all women in the parish, the Altar and Rosary ladies assist the parish by decorating the church for the various liturgical seasons. They are also committed to praying for those in need and organizing fund raising activities.

    Fourth Monday of the month (August through May) at 6:30 p.m. in the church hall.

  • Altar Servers
    Adults, both men and women, are invited to become altar servers. Children who are age 10 or older are also invited to participate. All servers will be trained at the parish before they begin serving at Mass and will be paired with experienced servers so they can become comfortable with their responsibilities.

  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
    Adults are invited to help distribute the Eucharist to fellow parishioners during Mass. Teens who are 16 or older are also invited to participate. Those interested must be certified through the Archdiocese of Chicago prior to becoming a minister of the Eucharist. Participants will need to complete their training through the Archdiocese and in the parish before being added to the Mass schedules.

  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Sick
    Parishioners who are Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion can also be trained to help at Holy Family Nursing Center in Zion, which provides nursing and assisted living to seniors. Ministers of Care visit once a week to make Communion calls, pray with the residents and visit.
    Sick Calls and Mass Schedule
    Tuesdays, around 1 p.m.; Mass celebrated on the second Tuesday of the month at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

  • Holy Name Society
    Open to all Catholic men, the Holy Name Society's mission is to promote devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus and to assist each others growth in holiness. Activities include attending conferences and retreats along with volunteering at area food pantries and in parish functions.

    Second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the church hall (unless otherwise noted).

  • Knights of Columbus
    All men, or boys in high school or older, are welcome to take part in one of the oldest American Catholic organizations in the Church's history.

  • Lectors

  • Respect Life
    What does the church mean when they teach about the sanctity of life? How does one get involved in promoting "respect life"? Attend the next Respect Life group meeting and find out! Everyone is welcome.

  • Youth Group
    All youth ages 13 and older are invited to join the parish's up-and-coming youth group. Meetings are usually offered twice a month and give teens a chance to share and grow in their faith. Previous activities have included guest speakers, a ski trip and pizza socials.

    Community Outreach Programs

  • Catholic Daughters of the Americas
    CDA strives to embrace the principle of faith, working through love in the promotion of justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all. Members are encouraged to develop leadership skills, dedication and great enthusiasm for the work of Christ and His Church. Come out and learn about the new activities they are planning. All Catholic women are invited.

  • Catholic Charities Lake County Services
    The branch office from the Archdiocese of Chicago serves various people and cases in the Lake County area.

  • Open Arms Mission Food Pantry
    Since opening in 2001, Open Arms is one of the largest food pantries in Lake County serving thousands of families in the area. St. Raphael parishioners volunteer one or two days a month, and parish food drives have gone to help stock the pantry's shelves.
